Determinants of Corporate Financial Performance Relating to Board Characteristics of Corporate Gover

Abstract:
This study investigated the relationship between board characteristics of corporate governance as independent variables on which dependent variable, i.e, the firms performance related indicators such as ROA, ROE and Tobins Q depends upon the accounting and market based measures belonging to the manufacturing firms in India between the periods of 2011-2015. The eight independent variables taken into consideration for the study especially for board characteristics and control variable of the firm which might have some impact on the firms’ performance of 275 firms which covered under the 18 major sectors of manufacturing industry. The OLS regression has been tested to find out the determinant factors of firms performance in relating to board characteristics. It is observed from the study that board characteristics (Size, Independence, Boar meeting) are significant negative relationship exists towards firms performance indicators.The study found that board size of a firm has emerged as an important determinants of firm’s performance but significant and negatively related with firm performance...
